Runiel Debbarma takes oath as new TTAADC Chief Executive Member, promising transparent governance, stronger tribal development, better infrastructure, education, healthcare, and increased financial support for ADC areas in Tripura under the leadership of TIPRA Motha.

A fresh political and administrative chapter began in Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) on Wednesday as Runiel Debbarma officially assumed office as the new Chief Executive Member (CEM). Alongside him, Chandra Kumar Jamatia took oath as Executive Member (EM) during a formal ceremony held at the Nuai Auditorium Hall in Khumulwng.

The swearing-in ceremony was attended by several senior leaders, elected representatives, party workers, and supporters of the TIPRA Motha Party, marking an important moment in the political landscape of Tripura’s tribal administration. The occasion reflected growing expectations among tribal communities for stronger governance, accelerated development, and improved welfare initiatives under the new leadership.

Addressing the media shortly after taking oath, Runiel Debbarma stressed that his administration would work with sincerity, transparency, and dedication for the welfare of the Tiprasa people. He stated that the overall upliftment of indigenous communities would remain the central focus of the council’s policies and development agenda.

Debbarma highlighted that infrastructure development, education, healthcare services, and livelihood generation would be among the immediate priorities of the new executive body. According to him, the administration intends to strengthen grassroots governance mechanisms and ensure that development reaches even the most remote villages under the ADC.

He also acknowledged the financial limitations currently faced by the council. Debbarma pointed out that the existing budgetary support from the state government remains insufficient to address the growing developmental needs of the tribal population spread across vast ADC regions.

“We are receiving very limited funds. Despite that, we have worked over the past five years. Now, with the support of our MLAs, MDCs, and Pradyot Kishore Deb Barma, we will press for additional resources to serve the people better,” Debbarma said while speaking to reporters.

The new CEM further announced that the council would appeal to both the Central Government and Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha for increased financial assistance to strengthen development projects across tribal areas.

Drawing from his five years of experience as a Member of the District Council (MDC), Debbarma expressed confidence in handling administrative responsibilities more effectively in his new role. He stated that his experience at the grassroots level had helped him understand the real challenges faced by indigenous communities, particularly in sectors such as road connectivity, drinking water supply, healthcare access, and employment opportunities.

Political observers believe the leadership transition may further strengthen the position of the TIPRA Motha Party within the tribal political framework of the state. Party leaders described the new leadership as a continuation of their broader vision under the guidance of Bubagra Pradyot Bikram Manikya Deb Barma.

In an official statement shared by party leaders, the TIPRA Motha Party declared that “TIPRA in TTAADC 2.0” had formally begun with the swearing-in of Runiel Debbarma as CEM. The party reiterated its commitment to building a better future for the next generation while ensuring peace, development, and empowerment across ADC areas.

Supporters and residents in tribal regions have expressed optimism that the new executive leadership will bring greater administrative efficiency and renewed focus on long-pending developmental demands. Expectations are particularly high regarding employment generation, youth welfare programs, modern educational infrastructure, and improved healthcare services.
