All arrangements have been made for counting of Assembly elections in Puducherry, with elaborate security and monitoring mechanisms in place. Talking to Akashvani, Puducherry Chief Electoral Officer P Jawahar said that counting for all 30 Assembly constituencies in the Union Territory of Puducherry will be held tomorrow at three centres in Puducherry region, and one centre each in Karaikal, Yanam and Mahe.
Three-tier security has been deployed with civil police, armed police and central forces. A 100-metre radius around each counting centre has been declared a pedestrian zone on counting day. Vehicular movement will not be permitted within this area, and entry will be restricted to only those carrying valid identity cards issued by the Election Department. The Chief Electoral Officer said the entire process will be conducted in a transparent manner under the supervision of observers appointed by the Election Commission of India.
