In Ice Hockey, India defeated Macau 8-1 in the Under-18 Asia Cup at Bishkek in Kyrgyzstan to register its first win of the tournament.
After suffering defeats against Indonesia and Uzbekistan, the young Indian side responded in emphatic fashion, showcasing attacking flair, improved structure, and far greater composure on the rink.
Captain Gurtej Singh Bhatti scored four goals in a sensational display and further strengthened his position as one of the tournament’s leading scorers. India’s other goals came through Devansh, Ajay Dangi, Tashi, and Iftiqar Hussain, as the team delivered its most complete performance of the tournament so far.
India had opened the tournament with a spirited but ultimately unsuccessful 6-9 defeat against Indonesia. In the second match, India suffered a heavy 1-15 defeat against Uzbekistan.
Although India’s Semi-final hopes remain slim after the heavy loss to Uzbekistan, the victory against Macau represents a valuable step forward for Indian ice hockey development.
