In West Bengal, campaigning has intensified with six days left for the first phase of the Assembly elections. 152 seats will go for poll on 23rd April under the first phase. Today, leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari, state BJP president Shamik Bhattacharya joined public rallies in the district in support of party candidates. While Suvendu Adhikari in a public meeting in Purulia district, assured to conduct panchayet election in West Bengal after BJP voted to power, Shamik Bhattacharya in a rally in Bankura pointed out the illegal sand and stone mining under the ruling Trinamool Congress and assured voters to stop all illegal activities. BJP leader and Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma joined a public rally in north Bengal today.
On the other hand, Trinamool Congress chief and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee campaigned in districts of north Bengal and accused BJP for the deletion of names under the SIR. Trinamool Congress leader Abhishek Bandopadhyay joined a road show in Bankura district in support of party candidates.
