Tripura marks World Homoeopathy Day with a mega rally in Agartala, promoting holistic health, TB elimination, and awareness through National Ayush Mission initiatives, free camps, school outreach, and community participation across the state.

To commemorate the birth anniversary of Samuel Hahnemann, the founder of Homoeopathy, the state of Tripura has launched a series of health-focused initiatives ahead of World Homoeopathy Day, observed annually on April 10. Spearheaded by the National Ayush Mission (NAM), these programmes aim to enhance public awareness about Homoeopathy and promote a healthier lifestyle across communities.

As part of the celebrations, a grand rally titled “Pedals and Paces for Wellness” was organized on April 5, 2026, in Agartala. The event uniquely combined a foot march and a cycle rally, symbolizing the importance of physical activity such as walking and cycling in maintaining overall health and well-being.

The foot march began from the Rabindra Shatabarshiki Bhavan premises and traversed key city locations including Orient Chowmuhani, Jackson Gate, Kaman Chowmuhani, and several other major intersections before culminating at the office of the Mission Director at Palace Compound. Simultaneously, the cycle rally followed an extensive route across prominent areas such as North Gate, Circuit House, GB Bazaar, and Lalbahadur Chowmuhani, eventually concluding at the same destination.

The rally witnessed enthusiastic participation from around 325 individuals, including approximately 200 Homoeopathic doctors, pharmacists, and healthcare workers associated with the National Ayush Mission, the National Health Mission, and Ayushman Bharat. Additionally, 120 ASHA workers from West Tripura district, 25 skilled cyclists from the Tripura Cycling Explorers group, and volunteers from “My Bharat” contributed to the success of the rally.

Organizers highlighted that the rally was not only about promoting Homoeopathy but also about reinforcing the importance of preventive healthcare. Guided by the principles of Samuel Hahnemann, the initiative emphasized boosting immunity through Homoeopathic practices. A significant focus was also placed on supporting the ongoing “100 Days TB Elimination Campaign,” with the goal of building a tuberculosis-free society.

Ahead of the main celebration on April 10, the National Ayush Mission has planned an extensive lineup of activities across the state. These include 162 special programmes in health institutions on April 9, aimed at educating people about the benefits and scientific aspects of Homoeopathy.

Further, 144 maternal and child health awareness meetings and pledge-taking sessions are being conducted to highlight the role of alternative medicine in improving family health. The state will also host 288 free health camps offering Homoeopathic consultations and treatments, ensuring accessibility to healthcare services even in remote areas.

In an effort to engage younger generations, awareness activities are being organized in 300 schools across Tripura. These programmes include introductory sessions on Homoeopathy, health check-ups, and wellness pledges designed to instill healthy habits early in life. Additionally, training programmes for ASHA workers are being conducted at 156 health facilities under “ASHA Bharosa Diwas,” strengthening grassroots healthcare delivery.

Two major “Vitality and Breath” mega camps are also scheduled in Dhalai and North Tripura districts. These camps, organized in collaboration with the National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme (NTEP), will focus on joint Homoeopathy and TB screening, reinforcing the government’s commitment to tackling infectious diseases through integrated healthcare approaches.

Complementing these on-ground efforts, a vibrant social media campaign is underway. The official platforms of the National Ayush Mission in Tripura are actively sharing daily content as part of a 25-day countdown to World Homoeopathy Day. These posts aim to educate the public, especially youth, about lesser-known facts and scientific insights related to Homoeopathy.

Officials believe that such comprehensive initiatives will significantly contribute to raising awareness about affordable and safe healthcare options. Homoeopathy, known for its minimal side effects and holistic approach, continues to gain recognition as a reliable system of medicine.

The mega rally and associated programmes are expected to bring healthcare services closer to the people while fostering a culture of wellness and preventive care across the state.
