Rotary Club of Agartala expands Digital Education, observes World TB Day

The Rotary Club of Agartala continues its commitment to community development through impactful initiatives in education and healthcare. In a major step toward digital empowerment in schools, the Club successfully implemented the “Digital Learning System – Smart Class Grant” under the Rotary District Foundation Trust across three institutions in Tripura.

The first distribution was conducted at Krishna Sangha High School, South Charilam, Sepahijala District, in the presence of Deputy Director of Education Md. Selim, Headmaster Sankar Sarkar, SMC Chairman Arun Debnath, and Ex-Chairman Haralal Debnath, Panchayat Pradhan Amal Debnath, along with teachers and students.

The second distribution took place at Indranagar High School (English Medium), Agartala, West Tripura District, where Headmistress Rina Das, SMC Chairman and members, teachers, and students attended the program.

The third phase was held at Lankapura S.B. School, Lankapura, Padmabil, Khowai District, in the presence of Headmaster Tapash Das, MI Coordinator Suman Roy, School Inspector P. Debbarma, SMC members, teachers, and students.

On all three occasions, president Rtn. Kisalaya Ghosh, secretary Rtn. Prof. Dr. Priyanath Das, and Ex-president Rtn. Haridas Saha formally handed over the smart class equipment to the respective school authorities. Each program included a live demonstration showcasing how the digital learning system would enhance classroom teaching, making education more interactive and engaging for students.

In addition to its educational initiatives, the Rotary Club of Agartala actively observed World TB Day in collaboration with the Health Department at Kathaibaba Ashram, Nagicherra, Agartala.

The program was attended by Health Secretary Gitte Kirankumar Dinkarrao, IAS, Health Director Dr. Debashree Debbarma, Director of Family Welfare and Preventive Medicine Dr. Anjan Das, Member Secretary Dr. Napur Debbarma, CMO Dr. Sankar Chakraborty, Project Director Dr. Binita Chakma, along with Rotary leaders including president Rtn. Kisalaya Ghosh, secretary Rtn. Prof. Dr. Priyanath Das, Assistant Secretary Rtn. Samir Lal Saha, and other members.

The event began with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, followed by an overview of World TB Day and its objectives. The Health Secretary delivered an insightful address emphasizing the need for collective action to eliminate tuberculosis. TB Champions who successfully fought the disease were felicitated for their courage and resilience. A pledge was also taken by all present to support TB patients, extend necessary assistance, and actively participate in the Nikshay Mitra initiative.

Notably, the Rotary Club of Agartala has adopted 211 TB patients over the past six months under the Nikshay Mitra initiative. In recognition of this commendable effort, the Government of Tripura felicitated the Club for its outstanding contribution toward TB eradication.

Through these initiatives, the Rotary Club of Agartala reaffirms its dedication to transforming lives through education, healthcare, and humanitarian service, working hand-in-hand with government authorities and the community for a better and healthier future.
