Sabroom Sub-Divisional Hospital secures top rank in Kayakalp Award, leading Tripura in hygiene, patient care, and waste management. The hospital also drives a high-impact TB elimination campaign with nearly 90% success through proactive healthcare outreach.

The Sabroom Sub-Divisional Hospital in South Tripura has once again emerged as the top-performing healthcare institution in the state under the prestigious Kayakalp Award. The achievement underscores the hospital’s consistent commitment to excellence in cleanliness, patient care, and modern healthcare standards.

The Kayakalp initiative, launched by the Government of India, aims to promote sanitation, hygiene, and infection control practices in public health facilities. This year’s evaluation by the state Health Department placed Sabroom Sub-Divisional Hospital at the top, reaffirming its leadership in delivering quality healthcare services.

This is not the first time the hospital has earned recognition. It secured the first position in 2024 and ranked second in 2025, before reclaiming the top spot this year. Officials noted that the hospital’s continuous improvement in waste management, sanitation protocols, and patient-friendly services played a key role in its success.

Healthcare authorities emphasized that the achievement reflects a strong team effort. Doctors, nurses, and support staff have worked tirelessly to upgrade facilities, maintain strict hygiene standards, and ensure a clean and safe environment for patients. Regular sanitation drives, improved waste disposal systems, and adherence to modern infection control practices have transformed the hospital into a model institution in the state.

“The recognition is a testament to the dedication of our healthcare workers,” officials said, adding that the hospital has significantly enhanced its treatment facilities and service delivery mechanisms in recent years.

Alongside this achievement, the hospital has also made notable progress in its fight against tuberculosis (TB). As part of a nationwide TB elimination campaign, Sabroom Sub-Divisional Hospital launched a 100-day intensive drive that has already achieved nearly 90 percent success.

Health officials, including Nripendra Reang and Dr. Samit Hazra, highlighted that teams are actively conducting door-to-door visits across both rural and urban areas. The initiative focuses on early detection of TB symptoms, ensuring timely diagnosis, and providing free medical services such as sputum tests, X-rays, and essential medications.

The campaign also places strong emphasis on public awareness. Residents are being educated about the importance of completing treatment courses and maintaining proper hygiene practices to prevent the spread of the disease. Officials reiterated that tuberculosis, though contagious, is completely curable if detected early and treated correctly.

They urged citizens to remain vigilant and seek medical attention immediately if they experience symptoms such as persistent cough, fever, or unexplained weight loss. Public cooperation, they stressed, is crucial to achieving the goal of TB elimination within the targeted timeframe.
