Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission (TRLM) showcases grassroots innovation at national Mission SANKALP event, highlighting technology-driven rural livelihoods, scalable enterprise models, and inclusive development strategies, positioning the state as a key contributor to India’s sustainable rural transformation agenda.

Tripura has emerged as a compelling voice in India’s evolving innovation ecosystem, as the Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission (TRLM) showcased its grassroots-driven development model at the national Mission SANKALP Exhibition-cum-Technical Event held at Dr. Ambedkar International Centre. The high-level event, organized by the Office of the Principal Scientific Adviser to the Government of India, focused on leveraging science, technology, and innovation to strengthen sustainable livelihood systems across the country.

The programme was inaugurated by Prof. Ajay Kumar Sood and witnessed participation from senior officials representing premier institutions and ministries, including Department of Biotechnology, Department of Science and Technology, Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Ministry of Rural Development, Council of Scientific and Industrial Research, Indian Council of Agricultural Research, and Ministry of Panchayati Raj. The gathering created a collaborative platform for states to present innovative livelihood models and explore pathways for scaling them nationwide.

Representing Tripura, Sandip Sinha participated as a panelist in a key session titled “Pathways for Scaling Innovations from Pilots to Nationwide Programmes.” During the discussion, he emphasized the importance of integrating institutional frameworks, financial support systems, and technology-driven interventions to expand rural enterprise ecosystems.

Sinha highlighted that Tripura’s approach is rooted in grassroots realities, where small-scale pilot projects are carefully designed for scalability. These initiatives span non-farm enterprises, skill-based livelihoods, and community-driven economic models, ensuring that innovations can be adapted across diverse rural and tribal contexts. He stressed that technology must not remain confined to laboratories but should be translated into practical tools that empower rural communities.

What distinguished Tripura’s participation was its strong focus on inclusive innovation. Observers at the event noted that TRLM’s presentation brought attention to the unique challenges faced by smaller states and tribal populations, advocating for policies that are flexible and locally adaptable. By aligning innovation strategies with on-ground realities, Tripura demonstrated how sustainable development can be both scalable and socially inclusive.

The event concluded with a collective call for stronger collaboration between state governments, research institutions, and central ministries. Participants agreed that bridging the gap between pilot projects and large-scale implementation is critical to achieving long-term livelihood security across India.
