BJP intensifies Dharmanagar by-poll campaign with key strategy meeting led by Manik Saha. Triangular contest with Congress and CPI-M heats up ahead of April 9 election, making it a crucial political battle in Tripura.
As political activity intensifies in Tripura, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has stepped up preparations for the upcoming by-election in the 56-Dharmanagar Assembly constituency. In a significant show of organizational strength, the party convened a high-level strategy meeting at its local office on Sunday, signaling the importance it attaches to retaining the seat.
The meeting was attended by Manik Saha, along with senior ministers, MLAs, and key organizational leaders. Their presence highlighted the seriousness with which the ruling party is approaching the by-poll, which is expected to witness a competitive triangular contest.
The by-election has been necessitated following the demise of sitting MLA Biswa Bandhu Sen, a veteran leader whose absence has left a significant political vacuum in the constituency. His contributions to the region had cemented the BJP’s stronghold in Dharmanagar, making the upcoming election crucial for the party’s continued dominance.
The BJP has fielded Jahar Chakraborty as its candidate, banking on organizational strength and development-centric campaigning. Meanwhile, the opposition has lined up strong contenders, with the Indian National Congress nominating Chayan Bhattacharjee and the Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPI-M) fielding Amitabha Dutta. This three-cornered contest is expected to intensify political rivalry in the region.
Addressing party workers during the meeting, Chief Minister Saha reiterated that the BJP treats every election with utmost seriousness, regardless of scale. He emphasized that the campaign strategy would focus on showcasing the government’s developmental achievements, including infrastructure growth, welfare schemes, and governance reforms implemented across Tripura.
Saha also called upon party workers to remain united and proactive, urging them to reach out to every voter and ensure a decisive victory for the BJP candidate. He expressed confidence that the party would not only retain the seat but also increase its winning margin compared to previous elections.
The Dharmanagar by-election is scheduled for April 9, and preparations are already in full swing. Political rallies, grassroots mobilization, and campaign strategies are expected to dominate the coming weeks. With all three major political forces actively contesting, the by-poll is shaping up to be one of the most closely watched electoral battles in Tripura this year.
