The State Election authorities suspended Ajay Das of Superintendent of Fisheries Department who was also Sector Officer for 40-Sabroom Assembly Constituency. He was suspended following the directions from the CEO Office, an official statement said.
Das was accused of smearing black ink on the face of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s in a poster displayed inside a shop.
Only recently the CEC suspended a DSP and removed two OCs for their dereliction of duties during a clash between the BJP and Congress in BJP.
This is was for the second instance when the poll authorities acted tough and took strong notes of misconduct by the government officials.
A delegation led by Education Minister Ratanlal Nath met with the Chief Electoral Officer Kiran Gitte recently and demanded action against the officer for the incidence that took place under 40-Sabroom AC, South Tripura District .
It was alleged by the BJP that the sector officer of 40-Sabroom Assembly Constituency, Das as Sector Officer, 40-Sabroom Assembly Constituency went to the shop of a person and covered the PM’s face with black ink on the poster of Prime Minister.
After receiving this complaint from the BJP, the Chief Electoral Officer investigated the mater. The investigation shows that the sector officer did it illegally.
The Election Department gave him a show-cause notice. But the sector officer could not respond properly to the show-cause notice. Later on, the matter was enquired by the DM & Collector, South Tripura and found that Das acted beyond the provision of Model Code of Conduct. It was then the DM South Tripura was directed to put Das under suspension and start process for disciplinary proceedings as per provision of relevant rule against him.
