Election Commission of India (ECI) reviews Dharmanagar by-poll preparedness as district administration declares full readiness. Senior ECI officials assess security arrangements, logistics, and coordination among departments to ensure a free, fair, and transparent election process in the constituency.
A high-level delegation from the Election Commission of India (ECI) conducted a comprehensive review of election preparedness in Dharmanagar on Thursday ahead of the anticipated by-election to the 56-Dharmanagar Assembly Constituency. The visit was aimed at ensuring administrative readiness, robust security arrangements, and smooth coordination among departments to guarantee a transparent and peaceful electoral process.
The three-member ECI delegation was led by Principal Secretary N. T. Bhutia and Secretary Santosh Kumar Dubey. During their visit, the team held an extensive review meeting at the conference hall of the District Magistrate’s office. Senior administrative and police officials participated in the session to discuss operational strategies for the by-poll.
The discussions focused on several crucial aspects of election management, including law and order, deployment of security forces, transportation logistics, polling personnel training, and coordination among various government departments. The ECI team also reviewed contingency planning to address any potential disruptions during the election process.
District Magistrate Chandni Chandran assured the visiting delegation that the district administration has completed all necessary preparations. She stated that officials are fully prepared to conduct the election smoothly whenever the Commission announces the poll schedule.
“Our preparations are complete in every aspect, including logistics, security arrangements, and administrative coordination. The district is fully ready to conduct the election once the schedule is declared,” Chandran said during the review meeting.
Senior police officials also briefed the delegation on security planning to maintain peace and order throughout the election period. Superintendent of Police Avinash Rai and Additional Superintendent of Police Kamal Debbarma highlighted strategies for maintaining law and order, including deployment of police personnel at sensitive polling stations and coordination with central security forces if required.
The meeting was also attended by Returning Officer Devyani Chowdhury, Sub-Divisional Magistrates from Dharmanagar, Panisagar, and Kanchanpur, along with other election officials responsible for overseeing polling operations.
During the review, the ECI delegation issued key directions to streamline administrative processes and emphasized strict adherence to electoral guidelines. Officials were instructed to ensure transparency, fairness, and efficiency in every stage of the election process.

The visit by the Election Commission’s senior officials signals the beginning of intensified preparations for the by-election in Dharmanagar.
