Nearly 20,000 candidates appear for STGT 2026 across 63 centres in Tripura as TRBT conducts the Graduate Teachers Selection Test. Chairman clarifies centre confusion, issues strict reporting guidelines, and strengthens security for transparent recruitment process.

The Teachers’ Recruitment Board Tripura (TRBT) is set to conduct the Selection Test for Graduate Teachers (STGT) examination across 63 centres in Tripura today. A total of 19,965 candidates have been declared eligible to appear for the highly anticipated recruitment examination, marking one of the largest teacher eligibility tests in the state this year.

TRBT Chairman Pratyush Ranjan Deb confirmed the final arrangements and clarified concerns regarding examination venues. He noted that confusion had arisen due to similarities in the names of two separate examination centres.

“Ramkrishna Ashram Vidyamandir and Ramakrishna Vivekananda Vidyamandir HS School are two distinct institutions located in Netaji Chowmuhani and Dhaleswar respectively. The subjects assigned to candidates at these two centres are also different,” he stated, urging aspirants to carefully verify their admit cards and centre details before reporting.

Authorities have issued strict guidelines to ensure smooth conduct of the examination. Candidates have been advised to reach their designated centres by 10:00 am. Entry gates will be closed sharply at 11:00 am, and no candidate will be permitted to enter after the deadline. The examination is scheduled to commence at 12:00 pm and will continue until 2:30 pm.

Security arrangements have been strengthened at all 63 centres to maintain transparency and fairness in the recruitment process. Officials stated that invigilators and supervisory staff have been deployed adequately to prevent malpractice and ensure adherence to examination norms.

The STGT examination plays a crucial role in filling graduate teacher vacancies in government schools across Tripura. With nearly 20,000 aspirants competing, the test is expected to significantly impact the state’s education sector by strengthening its teaching workforce.

Education observers believe that the large turnout reflects growing interest among graduates in securing stable government teaching positions. TRBT officials reiterated their commitment to conducting the recruitment process in a transparent and merit-based manner.

As the examination unfolds today, candidates and authorities alike hope for a smooth and incident-free process that will pave the way for the next phase of teacher recruitment in the state.
