Tripura Assembly panel praises Amarpur RD Block for rapid rural transformation, strong infrastructure, and people-centric governance. The block has earned state and national recognition for efficient development programme implementation and innovative public facilities.
A six-member delegation of the Tripura Legislative Assembly’s Public Undertakings Committee on Saturday lauded the Amarpur Rural Development (RD) Block for its remarkable transformation, robust infrastructure growth, and efficient, people-centric administration. The visiting team described the block as a shining example of successful rural governance in the state.
The delegation was led by Committee Chairman Chittaranjan Debbarma, who, along with other members, undertook a comprehensive inspection of various facilities developed under different government schemes. The members observed that the effective implementation of welfare programmes, combined with innovative local initiatives, has placed Amarpur RD Block among the top-performing rural administrative units in Tripura.
During interactions with officials, the committee noted that transparent governance, timely execution of projects, and active community participation have been the key drivers behind the block’s sustained progress. They further stated that the administration’s focus on inclusive growth has ensured that the benefits of development reach grassroots-level beneficiaries.
Amarpur RD Block has already gained significant recognition at both state and national levels. In the previous year, the block was awarded Tripura’s Best Performing RD Block, while also securing second position at the national level for effective implementation of development programmes. The assembly members said such achievements reflect consistent planning and strong monitoring mechanisms.
As part of the visit, the delegation inspected a range of modern and innovative facilities developed within the block premises. These included a newly built gymnasium, an overnight cottage for visitors, beekeeping units promoting sustainable livelihoods, and a self-help group (SHG)-run ‘Run’ flower garden that supports women-led entrepreneurship. The members also examined a robot created from e-waste, highlighting the block’s emphasis on innovation and environmental awareness.
Other facilities reviewed during the visit included a modern conference hall, a rooftop theatre, a mobile bio-toilet, and a fully functional Aadhaar operating centre. The committee members expressed particular appreciation for the cleanliness, orderly layout, and eco-friendly practices maintained throughout the block campus.
The delegation comprised Jitendra Majumder, Ranjit Das, Pathan Lal Jamatia, Philip Kumar Reang, and Shailendra Chandra Nath, along with the chairman. They collectively praised the dedication of the block administration and encouraged officials to continue setting higher benchmarks for rural development.
