Tripura University has successfully conducted the Teachers’ Council (TUTC) Election 2026, leading to the formation of a new Teachers’ Council that will serve for the 2026–28 academic term. The newly elected body is expected to play a crucial role in strengthening institutional governance, enhancing academic transparency, and ensuring wider faculty participation in decision-making processes.

According to an official notification issued by the university authorities, the Teachers’ Council has been constituted following established democratic procedures, reflecting Tripura University’s commitment to participatory governance and academic accountability. The council acts as an important platform where faculty members collectively address academic, administrative, and policy-related matters affecting the university.

Prof. Anirban Guha has been elected as the President of the Teachers’ Council for the upcoming term. Known for his academic experience and leadership, Prof. Guha is expected to guide the council in fostering constructive dialogue between faculty members and university administration. Supporting him in leadership roles, Dr. Kalicharan Jha and Prof. Subhrabaran Das have been elected as Vice Presidents.

The administrative responsibilities of the council will be handled by Dr. Krishnendu Dhar, who has been appointed as Secretary. He will be assisted by Dr. Sudipta Pal and Dr. Mousami Debbarma, who will serve as Joint Secretaries. Financial matters of the council have been entrusted to Dr. Prasenjit Sinha, who has been elected as Treasurer.

University officials noted that the Teachers’ Council serves as a vital advisory and representative body, contributing to policy formulation related to teaching standards, academic reforms, faculty welfare, and institutional development. The newly formed council is expected to actively engage in discussions on curriculum improvement, research promotion, professional development, and student-centric academic policies.

Faculty members have expressed optimism that the 2026–28 Teachers’ Council will bring greater inclusivity and transparency to university governance. The election process itself witnessed active participation from teachers across departments, indicating a strong collective interest in shaping the future of the institution.
