The NB Institute for Rural Technology (NBIRT), a reputed multi-disciplinary organisation popularly known as Arkaneer, is set to organise the Arka Scholarship–2025 distribution programme on February 6 at the Agartala Press Club in West Tripura. Officials confirmed that the programme will begin at 12 noon and will bring together eminent personalities from the fields of law, science, and higher education.

Justice Arindam Lodh, Chairperson of the Tripura Human Rights Commission, has given his consent to attend the event as the chief guest, lending significant institutional importance to the programme. His presence is expected to inspire students and underline the role of education in strengthening democratic and social values.

The event will also be graced by Professor (Dr.) Shaon Ray Chaudhuri, from the Department of Microbiology and a member of the Internal Quality Assurance Cell of Tripura University (Central), who will attend as the guest of honour. Her participation highlights the academic credibility and interdisciplinary vision of the Arka Scholarship initiative.

The programme will be presided over by Professor (Dr.) Shantipada Gon Choudhury, an eminent scientist and the honorary president of NBIRT. Organisers stated that his leadership and long-standing commitment to education and rural development have been instrumental in shaping the scholarship programme.

According to officials, eleven meritorious students from Tripura have been selected for the Arka Scholarship–2025 from a pool of 142 applicants. Notably, ten of the selected recipients are girls, reflecting the organisation’s strong emphasis on promoting female education and academic empowerment in the state.

The Arka Scholarships have been instituted in memory of several distinguished individuals and organisations who made significant contributions to society. These include Late Nirapada Gon Choudhury, Late Parimal Datta, Late Arun Kumar Biswas, Late Amal Kumar Bhattacharjee, Late Kshetra Mohan Majumdar, Late Sindhu Rani Majumdar, Late Jagadish Chandra Bose, Late Usha Rani Bose, Late Aditi Kanango, and the MOHANA Society.
