State prepares for Saraswati Puja with vibrant celebrations across schools, colleges, clubs, and homes. Students lead creative preparations, community participation rises, and educational institutions unite in devotion, tradition, and festive spirit ahead of the auspicious festival.

As Saraswati Puja approaches, the entire state has transformed into a vibrant canvas of devotion, creativity, and youthful enthusiasm. With the festival scheduled to be celebrated on Friday, preparations reached their peak on Thursday, the eve of the auspicious occasion, as communities, educational institutions, and households came together to welcome the Goddess of Knowledge.

From early morning, idol-making workshops witnessed a steady movement as beautifully crafted idols of Goddess Saraswati were transported to schools, colleges, neighborhoods, and community pandals. These processions were far from ordinary. Accompanied by rhythmic drumbeats, music, and spontaneous dance, the journey of the idols turned streets into lively corridors of celebration. Students, dressed in festive attire, led the processions with visible excitement, symbolizing the deep cultural bond between education and the festival.

Across schools and colleges, campuses buzzed with activity as students engaged in final preparations. Classrooms, corridors, and open spaces were transformed with colorful decorations. Intricate alpana designs adorned the floors, while mandaps were decorated with handcrafted ornaments made of shola, paper, and eco-friendly materials. The atmosphere reflected not only devotion but also artistic expression and teamwork.

Students expressed their joy and anticipation openly. Many described Saraswati Puja as the most awaited festival of the academic year, a day that blends faith, creativity, and collective effort. The sense of ownership among students was evident, as they took responsibility for everything from decoration to ritual arrangements.

A particularly festive scene unfolded at the Kumarghat Teacher Training College (B.Ed College) in the Unakoti district. From morning until evening, students worked tirelessly to prepare the campus for the celebration. According to Joyjit Majumdar, a student of the institution, the college has been observing Saraswati Puja consistently for the past nine years. Each year, the pandal reflects fresh ideas, shaped entirely by student creativity and cooperation.

“This year as well, the mandap has been created through our own efforts using shola, colored paper, and various craft materials,” Majumdar said. He added that arrangements for prasad would continue throughout the day on the day of the puja, and local residents regularly participate, making the celebration a shared community experience.

Another student, Smritibha Debbarma, highlighted the spirit of unity that defines the preparations. She noted that students take part in every activity, from drawing alpana and decorating the mandap to preparing vegetables for prasad. “Everyone contributes in their own way. We invite people from all around to join us. The true essence of Saraswati Puja lies in collective participation and togetherness,” she said.

Beyond educational institutions, clubs and community organizations across the state have also been actively organizing Saraswati Puja. Fundraising through community contributions, volunteers have been working day and night to ensure smooth arrangements. At the same time, many households are preparing for the festival with traditional rituals, further extending the festive mood into homes.

From Kumarghat to other subdivisions, a similar picture emerged everywhere—streets alive with processions, campuses filled with creative energy, and homes resonating with anticipation. As final touches are completed, the state stands ready to welcome Goddess Saraswati in an atmosphere rich with devotion, harmony, and celebration, reaffirming the enduring cultural significance of this cherished festival.
