A media plays an important role in conducting transparent, corruption-free and free election. The positive attitude of the media plays a significant role in conducting election, stated Chief Electoral Officer Kiran Gitte in the media workshop (Vartalap) conducted by Press Information Bureau today at Geetanjali Guest House.

The main subject of the workshop was election and media electoral risk management and media communication. Secretary of Agartala Press Club Pranab Sarkar, Editorial Consultant of PTI Jayanta Bhattacharjee and Senior Journalist from Guwahati Anirban Roy were present at the workshop.

The Chief Electoral Officer also informed, it has to be seen that the secrecy of the voter is maintained while casting vote. The eagerness has been observed among new voters in terms of registering their names to the voter list. The main objective behind Mission Zero Poll Violence and Mission 929 is increasing average vote casting this year where the votes were casted less in 929 voting centres in the 2018 Legislative Assembly election. Besides, initiatives have been taken to generate awareness among the concerned people so that they may utilise their voting rights peacefully through Mission Zero Poll Violence. As a result, state’s image will shine brighter in front of the country in future. The dignitaries had further elaborately discussed on the subject in the second phase of the workshop.

The Election Commission of Indi this time has taken several steps to ensure free and fair polls , especially to make it a Zero Violence Poll. There are also steps to increase the voting percentage in the state in the booths where casting was seen less than 80 percent.
