Tripura adopts AI-driven healthcare as CM Manik Saha launches Mukhyamantri Niramay Arogya Abhiyan, focusing on early detection, non-communicable disease screening, tuberculosis management, preventive care, and affordable health services for citizens above 30 years.
Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Tuesday reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to building a healthy, aware, and welfare-driven society through the adoption of modern technology and large-scale preventive healthcare initiatives. He said the Health Department is actively working to transform Tripura into a model state in public health services by integrating innovation, early diagnosis, and people-centric care.
The Chief Minister made these remarks while inaugurating the state-level Mukhyamantri Niramay Arogya Abhiyan at Pragna Bhavan in Agartala. The campaign has been launched by the State Health Department in collaboration with the Tripura National Health Mission with the objective of ensuring affordable, quality, and timely healthcare services for citizens across all sections of society.
Dr. Saha described the initiative as a far-reaching and impactful step toward strengthening the state’s public health infrastructure. Alongside the campaign, an AI-based pilot training module on tuberculosis was also launched, marking a significant shift toward technology-driven healthcare delivery in Tripura.

Calling the day “historic” for the Health Department, the Chief Minister said a new dimension has been added to its functioning. He highlighted the growing challenge of non-communicable diseases (NCDs), stating that nearly 65 percent of India’s population is currently affected by such conditions. He warned that delayed detection often leads to severe complications, underlining the importance of early diagnosis and preventive screening.
Dr. Saha noted that diseases such as high blood pressure, diabetes, heart ailments, and various cancers are increasingly affecting individuals above the age of 30. In many cases, these illnesses remain undiagnosed in their early stages, eventually turning life-threatening. To address this concern, the government has launched the Mukhyamantri Niramay Arogya Abhiyan as a mission-mode initiative focused on awareness generation, disease identification, timely treatment, and systematic follow-up.
The Chief Minister, who also holds the Health portfolio, emphasized that a healthy individual is the foundation of a healthy society. He stressed the importance of awareness, preventive care, and disciplined lifestyles while reiterating the government’s resolve to provide timely and accessible health services across the state. Several new healthcare programs are being introduced with this long-term vision, he added.
Sharing key health statistics, Dr. Saha revealed that last year, over 6.8 lakh people in Tripura were screened for diabetes and high blood pressure. Of these, 25,259 individuals were diagnosed with diabetes and 49,153 with hypertension. Additionally, 5.28 lakh women were screened for breast cancer, while 1 lakh women underwent cervical cancer screening.
He said that patients diagnosed through these screenings were immediately brought under treatment and placed under regular medical follow-up. Considering the urgency of the situation, the current campaign has been designed with defined timelines and a mission-oriented approach to strengthen screening, treatment, and follow-up mechanisms for non-communicable diseases.
The launch of the AI-based tuberculosis training module, the Chief Minister said, reflects the state’s adoption of advanced medical technology. He cited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of leveraging technology for human welfare and said the Tripura government is aligning its healthcare strategy with that national vision.
Dr. Saha further called upon all levels of Health Department personnel to act responsibly and work collectively to ensure the successful implementation of these initiatives.
