Bagbasa Holy Cross School organized a Christmas rice distribution drive in Dharmanagar, supporting truck drivers and poor villagers. The humanitarian initiative distributed 35 quintals of rice, promoting compassion, community service, and festive solidarity.

Bagbasa Holy Cross School, located under the Bagbasa Assembly Constituency in the Dharmanagar subdivision, organized a humanitarian rice distribution drive to mark the spirit of Christmas, spreading warmth and compassion among long-distance truck drivers and economically vulnerable villagers in nearby areas.

The initiative was aimed at supporting those who play a crucial role in sustaining daily life yet often remain unnoticed—truck drivers transporting essential goods across Tripura, as well as poor and needy families residing in remote villages. The programme reflected the school’s commitment to social responsibility, community service, and moral education.

A total of 35 quintals of rice was distributed during the drive. Long-distance truck drivers passing through the region were stopped safely along their routes and provided with 5 kilograms of rice each. These drivers, many of whom spend weeks away from their families during the festive season, expressed gratitude for the thoughtful gesture, calling it a rare and meaningful act of kindness.

In addition to supporting truck drivers, nearly 20 quintals of rice was distributed among underprivileged families in villages such as Noagang, Jaithang, Tongcherra, and Balicherra. For many residents, the assistance arrived at a crucial time, helping them celebrate Christmas with dignity despite ongoing economic challenges.

One of the most notable aspects of the programme was the active participation of students from Bagbasa Holy Cross School. By engaging students directly in the distribution process, the institution reinforced the values of empathy, service, and social awareness, ensuring that education extends beyond textbooks and classrooms.

The event was attended by Father Ajith Philip, who conveyed Christmas greetings and extended heartfelt wishes to the truck drivers, villagers, and students involved in the initiative. In his address, he emphasized the importance of sharing resources and standing beside the marginalized, especially during festive seasons.

Local residents and community leaders widely appreciated the initiative, praising the school for setting an example of compassionate action. The drive highlighted the true essence of Christmas—sharing, caring, and spreading joy—and strengthened the bond between the institution and the surrounding community.

Bagbasa Holy Cross School’s distribution drive stands as a powerful reminder that meaningful change begins with small acts of kindness, inspiring hope and unity during the season of goodwill.
