Kattalan, the upcoming pan-Indian Malayalam action thriller, welcomes Tamil actress Dushara Vijayan to its star-studded cast. Featuring Antony Varghese and Rajisha Vijayan, the film promises high-octane action, a gripping storyline, and powerful performances across industries.
The highly anticipated pan-Indian Malayalam action thriller Kattalan continues to make headlines as the makers officially welcome acclaimed Tamil actress Dushara Vijayan to the film’s dynamic ensemble cast. The announcement, made on Friday by Cube Entertainments, marks a significant milestone for the actress, as Kattalan will serve as her debut entry into the Malayalam film industry.
Cube Entertainments, the banner behind this high-voltage production, introduced Dushara Vijayan through a striking social media post, praising her bold, impactful, and natural performances in several major Tamil films, including Veera Dheera Sooran (2025), Vettaiyan (2024), Raayan (2024), and the widely acclaimed Sarpatta Parambarai (2021). The production house expressed confidence that her powerful screen presence would add a compelling edge to the world of Kattalan, a film already generating considerable buzz across India.
The project, headlined by celebrated Malayalam actor Antony Varghese (Pepe), is shaping up to be one of the biggest pan-Indian action films in recent years. The film’s Thailand schedule, which began on October 1, was recently wrapped up, marking a major milestone in the production timeline. The foreign schedule made headlines not only for its ambitious scale but also for a dramatic on-set incident.
During the filming of an intense action sequence in Thailand, Antony Varghese sustained an injury during a stunt involving an elephant. The elaborate action choreography was handled by world-renowned stunt director Kecha Khamphakdee, best known for his work in the iconic Ong-Bak series. Adding to the excitement, the film even features Pong, the famous elephant from the Ong-Bak films, who plays a key role in the action sequences. Despite the unexpected setback, Antony is recovering well, and filming has continued as per schedule.
Kattalan is directed by Paul George, a filmmaker with a bold vision for crafting large-scale, high-intensity cinematic experiences. The film is being produced by Shareef Muhammed of Cube Entertainments, who previously tasted massive success with the blockbuster Marco. With Kattalan, Shareef returns with an even more ambitious production designed to appeal to audiences across India.
The cast of the film is one of its biggest highlights. Alongside Antony Varghese and Dushara Vijayan, Kattalan features actress Rajisha Vijayan in a lead role. The ensemble also includes an impressive lineup of artists from multiple film industries, reinforcing the film’s pan-Indian identity. Among them are Rapper Baby Jean, popular Telugu actor Sunil, known for his notable roles in Pushpa: The Rise (2021), Pushpa 2 (2024), and Jailer (2023), and actor Kabir Duhan Singh, renowned for his intense screen presence across several languages. Veteran Malayalam stars Jagadeesh and Siddique also play pivotal roles in the narrative.
The makers have been consistently expanding the cast, recently announcing the addition of actor Parth Tiwari and Anson Paul. Earlier, they welcomed emerging talent Shon Joy, the model-turned-actor widely appreciated for his performance in his debut film Alappuzha Gymkhana (2025). His addition further strengthens the film’s diverse and promising cast base.
The story of Kattalan has been crafted by a dynamic writing team consisting of Paul George, Joby Varghese, and Jero Jacob, all of whom are making their writing debut with this film. According to industry insiders, the trio has created a gritty, high-stakes narrative filled with raw emotions, intense conflicts, betrayal, and dangerous missions—elements expected to deliver a gripping cinematic experience.
In the technical department, Kattalan boasts an equally powerful lineup. The film’s music is composed by Ajaneesh Loknath, the acclaimed composer behind Kantara 2. Cinematography is handled by Renadive, while Shameer Muhammed takes charge of editing. The film’s choreography is by Sharief, and costumes are designed by Dhanya Balakrishnan, adding artistic depth to the project.
