Punjab Zila Parishad and Panchayat Samiti Elections Scheduled for December 14

In Punjab, the Zila Parishad and Panchayat Samiti elections will be conducted on December 14. The counting of votes will be undertaken on December 17. With the announcement of election date, the model code of conduct has come into effect.
 
The State Election Commissioner Raj Kamal Chaudhuri while announcing the schedule today said that the polling will be held through ballot papers. Filing of nominations will start from December 1st. The last date is December 4th and scrutiny of the nomination papers will take place on December 5th. Whereas, the last date for withdrawal of nominations is December 6th.
 
The total number of registered voters is over 1.36 crore. For these elections 19,181 booths covering all rural areas of the districts have been set up. The Commission has made all the arrangements to conduct the elections in a fair, free and peaceful manner.
