Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha highlights the BJP government’s commitment to quality education for all communities through the CM Saath scheme, Mission Mukul, Vidya Jyoti upgrades, and new national-level institutions, aiming to transform Tripura into an emerging education hub.

Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Friday reiterated the state government’s commitment to ensuring quality education for students across all communities, castes, and economic backgrounds. Speaking at a felicitation ceremony for meritorious students under the ‘CM Saath’ scheme at Rabindra Bhavan in Agartala, the Chief Minister said that the BJP government is taking “one strong decision after another” to transform Tripura into a major education hub in the Northeast.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Saha emphasized that education remains the backbone of national development and a key priority for the state. “If we can ensure quality education, the nation develops. Education works as the main mantra for progress. After a long gap, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has introduced the National Education Policy, which addresses a wide range of issues — from creativity and skill development to expansion of thinking and consciousness,” he said.

The Chief Minister highlighted that the Education Department is consistently working to support students who face financial constraints and are unable to pursue their studies despite having talent and dedication. In this context, he mentioned the importance of the ‘CM Saath’ scheme, which aims to help students from financially and socially disadvantaged backgrounds.

“Today, about 200 students from across Tripura have been selected under the CM Saath scheme. Our goal is to encourage students, support their aspirations, and remove barriers to education. This is good not just for Tripura, but for the entire nation. The BJP government is committed to providing proper education to all meritorious students, and we are trying our best to ensure quality education for every child,” Dr. Saha said. He added that transparency has been maintained at every stage of the CM Saath project to ensure fairness in selecting beneficiaries.

Dr. Saha further outlined several major initiatives undertaken by the state government to improve early childhood education, school infrastructure, and academic outcomes. He referred to the ‘Mission Mukul’ program, launched to help young children from Anganwadi centres smoothly transition to school by familiarizing them with classroom environments and learning habits.

“For students from Class I to VIII, the Saharsa program has been introduced, allowing children to learn with joy, without excessive pressure. The government is also monitoring the proper implementation of the PM Poshan scheme to ensure nutritional support for schoolchildren,” the Chief Minister said.

He also highlighted the efforts to upgrade government schools and expand multilingual education. “About 125 schools have now been upgraded to Vidya Jyoti schools. Many books have been published in Kokborok, Chakma, Mizo, and other regional languages, reflecting the government’s focus on inclusive education,” he noted.

Dr. Saha added that the recruitment of a large number of educators has significantly strengthened the academic ecosystem. “More than 5,200 teachers and 115 librarians have been appointed through JRBT,” he informed.

The Chief Minister also underlined Tripura’s rapid progress in establishing renowned higher education institutions. “Several notable institutions have been set up in Tripura in recent years. A Triple IT has been launched. Ten IAS/IPS aspirants have been financially supported under the Lakshya project. We now have a National Forensic Science University and a National Law University in the state,” he said.

According to Dr. Saha, these developments mark a major shift in Tripura’s education landscape, positioning the state as a promising academic destination for the region and the country. “The state government is working tirelessly to create an education hub in Tripura. Many new facilities have been created across the education sector, and we are taking consistent steps to strengthen the entire system,” he added.

Senior officials of the Education Department, including Special Secretary Ravel Hemendra Kumar, were present at the event along with other dignitaries, teachers, and students.

The felicitation ceremony concluded with the distribution of certificates and financial assistance to the selected students, encouraging them to pursue higher education with renewed confidence and motivation.
