Sensex Rises 253 Points, Nifty Gains 76

Benchmark domestic equity indices, the Sensex and the Nifty, were trading around 0.3 per cent up in afternoon trade today. The Sensex gained 253 points to 84 thousand 720, while the Nifty added 76 points to 25 thousand and 951, when reports last came in. On the sectoral front, Telecommunication, Consumer Durables and Pharma, were among the top gainers, while selling was seen in Capital Goods, PSU Bank and IT.
