Tripura shines at Udyog Samagam 2025, winning top national honours in Business Entry and Labour Reform categories under BRAP 2024. CM Dr. Manik Saha calls it a milestone for Tripura’s investor-friendly transformation and rapid industrial growth.

Tripura has brought home a prestigious national accolade at the Udyog Samagam 2025, organized by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India.

The Northeastern state earned the Top Achiever Award in two crucial reform categories under the Business Reforms Action Plan (BRAP) 2024Business Entry and Labour Regulation Enablers — marking a major leap in simplifying its regulatory ecosystem and strengthening investor confidence.

The award was officially presented to Industries and Commerce Minister Smt. Santana Chakma by Union Minister of Commerce & Industry Shri Piyush Goyal during the high-profile ceremony held in New Delhi, in the presence of senior policymakers, industry leaders, and state representatives from across India.

Tripura Recognized as an “Aspirer State”

Under the BRAP 2024 evaluation, Tripura was listed in Category X, which includes Northeastern states and Union Territories with developing administrative frameworks. Despite this, the state stood out as an “Aspirer State”, showcasing remarkable progress in governance and reform execution.

The BRAP 2024 framework assessed over 434 reform indicators across multiple domains — ranging from single-window clearance systems and digitization of licenses to labour law simplifications and grievance redress mechanisms.

The evaluation was based on one of the largest stakeholder feedback exercises in India, involving over 5.8 lakh businesses and 1.3 lakh direct stakeholder interviews across 34 States and Union Territories.

Tripura’s performance was lauded for its:

  • Consistent and data-driven implementation of reforms.

  • Innovative, citizen-centric governance models.

  • Proactive business facilitation and investor engagement.

CM Dr. Manik Saha Applauds Tripura’s Reform Success

Reacting to the national recognition, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha took to social media to express his pride and gratitude.

He posted,

“One more feather in Tripura’s cap!
At the Udyog Samagam 2025 held in New Delhi on 11th November, Tripura has been conferred the Top Achiever Award in two Business-Centric Reform Areas under the Business Reforms Action Plan (BRAP) 2024 — Business Entry and Labour Regulation Enablers.
Hon’ble Union Minister of Commerce & Industry Shri Piyush Goyal Ji presented the award to our Hon’ble Industries & Commerce Minister Smt. Santana Chakma Ji.
This recognition reflects the growing confidence of investors in Tripura’s reform-driven ecosystem. With continued focus on deregulation and reform, the state has already signed MoUs worth over ₹15,000 crore across key sectors including industry, health, education, IT, power, and tourism.
Heartiest congratulations to Team Tripura for their tireless efforts and commitment that have brought this national honour to our State!”

In translation, Dr. Saha’s message underlined that the award is not just a recognition of the government’s reform agenda, but also a testament to Tripura’s transformation into a credible and investor-friendly state.

Minister Santana Chakma Receives Award on Behalf of State

Representing Tripura at the national stage, Industries and Commerce Minister Smt. Santana Chakma received the honour from Union Minister Piyush Goyal.

Speaking at the event, she remarked that Tripura’s journey from a developing administrative framework to a reform-driven economy has been made possible through policy consistency, technological integration, and leadership commitment.

She stated,

“Tripura is creating a new benchmark in ease of doing business in the Northeast. We are dedicated to making every process — from business registration to labour compliance — transparent, efficient, and investor-friendly.”

Tripura’s Reform Roadmap and Investment Boost

Tripura’s recognition at Udyog Samagam 2025 comes at a time when the state is witnessing unprecedented industrial growth. Over the past year, the government has inked Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) worth more than ₹15,000 crore across sectors such as manufacturing, healthcare, education, IT, renewable energy, and tourism.

Experts believe that this award will boost Tripura’s reputation as an emerging hub for industrial investment in the Northeast, complementing India’s national vision of balanced regional development.

The state government is also focusing on infrastructure upgrades, including logistics connectivity, industrial estates, and digital governance, to ensure that business facilitation becomes seamless and investor-friendly.

A Milestone Toward Inclusive Growth

As Tripura celebrates this milestone, the recognition stands as a symbol of collaborative governance, where administrative reforms align with citizen welfare and industrial dynamism.
