Tripura launched its Cyber Security Policy 2025 and hosted the National Cybersecurity Exercise “Cyber Bharat Setu” to strengthen digital resilience, promote awareness, and enhance cyber preparedness across the State through expert-led training, drills, and public outreach initiatives.

The Directorate of Information Technology (DIT), Government of Tripura, in collaboration with the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India, inaugurated a two-day National Cybersecurity Exercise titled “Cyber Bharat Setu: Bridging States, Securing Bharat” at Pragna Bhavan, Agartala, on Tuesday. The event marks a significant milestone in the State’s journey toward digital security and resilience.

The workshop, organized on November 11–12, aims to enhance cyber awareness, preparedness, and response capabilities across Tripura’s public and private sectors. The program was inaugurated by S. Krishnan, Secretary, MeitY, Government of India, in the presence of J. K. Sinha, Chief Secretary of Tripura; Anurag, IPS, Director General of Police; Kiran Gitte, Secretary, IT Department; Dr. Sanjay Bahl, Director General, CERT-In; and Jeya Ragul Geshan B., Director, IT Department, Government of Tripura.

Tripura Cyber Security Policy 2025 (TCSP 2.0) Launched

During the inaugural session, S. Krishnan officially launched the Tripura Cyber Security Policy, 2025 (TCSP 2.0)—a comprehensive and adaptive framework that envisions a secure, citizen-centric, and resilient cyber ecosystem in Tripura.

The new policy aims to protect IT and ICT infrastructure, strengthen institutional mechanisms, build cybersecurity capacity, and encourage collaboration between government agencies, private enterprises, academia, and citizens. It also emphasizes developing quick-response frameworks to counter emerging cyber threats, including ransomware, phishing, and data breaches.

Speaking at the event, Krishnan emphasized that cybersecurity is the backbone of a digitally empowered society, especially as India transitions into an advanced digital economy. He noted that Tripura’s forward-looking approach would serve as a model for other northeastern states to replicate in enhancing their digital resilience.

Building a Cyber-Resilient Bharat

The Cyber Bharat Setu initiative, jointly organized by CERT-In and state agencies, aims to build a cyber-resilient nation by bridging regional capacities, promoting knowledge sharing, and developing joint response strategies. The two-day exercise includes interactive training sessions, simulation-based drills, and expert-led technical workshops.

Experts from CERT-In, including Ashutosh Bahuguna, Senior Scientist and Team Lead, Cyber Security Assurance Group; Shashank Gupta, Scientist; and Mohit Kataria, Scientist, conducted specialized sessions on incident response, threat intelligence, and cyber crisis management.

These sessions aim to familiarize participants with modern threat landscapes, best practices in cyber defense, and coordinated incident-handling mechanisms essential for protecting digital infrastructure and ensuring national security.

Tripura Cyber Security Awareness Month 2025 Announced

In a landmark announcement, the Government of Tripura also launched the Tripura Cyber Security Awareness Month 2025 (TCSAM 2025) under the theme “Cyber Jagrit Tripura.” The campaign, to be observed throughout November, focuses on spreading cyber hygiene and awareness among citizens, students, and government employees.

The month-long awareness drive will feature workshops, training sessions, competitions, and community outreach activities to educate the public about safe online practices. A dedicated mascot named “Raksha Mitra” was unveiled to represent the spirit of cyber safety and to engage the public through interactive campaigns.

Kiran Gitte, Secretary, IT Department, highlighted that public participation is crucial in achieving the vision of a “Cyber Secure Tripura.” He stressed the importance of responsible digital behavior and the collective role of citizens in preventing cyber incidents.

Towards a Safer Digital Future

Tripura’s adoption of TCSP 2.0 and active participation in Cyber Bharat Setu underscore the State’s commitment to ensuring a secure, innovative, and inclusive digital ecosystem. The joint efforts of MeitY, CERT-In, and the State Government aim to transform Tripura into a model of cyber resilience and technological self-reliance in the Northeast region.
