Tripura Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury announced that the state’s Promo Fest initiatives have boosted tourist interest. The upcoming Unity Promo Fest 2025 in Belonia aims to strengthen tourism, promote inclusivity, and showcase Tripura’s vibrant cultural unity and heritage.
Tripura’s tourism sector is witnessing a renewed wave of enthusiasm, with officials attributing the surge in visitor interest to the success of the Tripura Tourism Promo Fest and other state-led promotional initiatives. Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury said that recent efforts have not only increased tourist inflow but also helped showcase the state’s cultural richness and regional heritage on a broader platform.
The minister noted that the promotional campaigns organized by the Department of Tourism have played a crucial role in rebranding Tripura as an emerging destination for both domestic and international travelers. “Tourist interest has grown significantly in recent years due to the consistent efforts made under the Promo Fest initiative,” said Chowdhury. “We aim to build on this success through our upcoming Unity Promo Fest 2025.”
Unity Promo Fest 2025: A Cultural Celebration with a Tourism Focus
Continuing the positive momentum from previous years, the Department of Tourism has announced the ‘Unity Promo Fest 2025’, a flagship event designed to promote inclusivity, local entrepreneurship, and cultural exchange. For the first time, this major tourism fest will be hosted in Belonia, located in the South Tripura district.
The two-day event is expected to draw large crowds from across the state and neighboring regions, offering visitors a mix of cultural performances, traditional cuisine, local handicraft exhibitions, and tourism showcases. The festival is envisioned as a symbol of unity—bridging communities and reinforcing Tripura’s identity as a land of harmony and diversity.
“Unity Promo Fest is not just about tourism; it’s about celebrating the people of Tripura,” Minister Chowdhury stated. “Our goal is to ensure that every citizen, irrespective of region or community, feels connected to the festival’s spirit of togetherness and pride in our shared heritage.”
Preparations Underway in Bilonia
To ensure seamless execution of the event, a high-level preparatory meeting was held on Thursday at the Belonia Dak Bungalow. The session was chaired by Minister Sushanta Chowdhury and attended by Zilla Parishad Sabhadhipati, MLAs Pramod Reang and Sapna Majumder, the Secretary and Director of Tourism, the District Magistrate, and senior officials from various state departments.
The discussions focused on logistical arrangements, inter-departmental coordination, and community involvement. Special attention was given to ensuring infrastructure readiness—ranging from transport and accommodation facilities to crowd management and safety protocols.
Officials emphasized the importance of engaging local artisans, self-help groups, and youth organizations to make the event more inclusive and economically impactful. “Local participation will be the backbone of this initiative,” said one official, adding that the festival aims to highlight Belonia’s potential as a new tourism hub in South Tripura.
Expanding Tourism and Infrastructure
The tourism department has been actively working on enhancing connectivity and amenities to support the growing influx of visitors. Road improvement projects, upgraded lodging facilities, and digital promotion campaigns are among the key measures being undertaken.
Minister Chowdhury reiterated the government’s commitment to sustainable tourism development. “We are not just organizing events; we are investing in long-term infrastructure and capacity-building that will benefit both tourists and local residents,” he said. “Our vision is to make Tripura one of the leading tourism destinations in the Northeast.”
Community and Cultural Integration
Beyond its tourism goals, the Unity Promo Fest will serve as a platform to celebrate Tripura’s cultural diversity—featuring performances by traditional dance troupes, folk musicians, and tribal artisans. The initiative aims to bridge cultural gaps and promote a deeper understanding of the state’s varied ethnic traditions.
By rotating the festival’s location each year, the Tourism Department hopes to bring visibility to different regions, encouraging balanced development and community participation. This decentralized approach, officials say, is key to ensuring that the benefits of tourism growth reach every corner of the state.
