Transgender Community Alleges Forced Evictions and Police Inaction in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

In Pakistan, the transgender community in Peshawar has accused police of forcibly evicting its members from various districts in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The community leaders said, police were targeting transgender persons while failing to act against those threatening, extorting, and killing them. They alleged evictions in Swabi, Nowshera, Charsadda, and other areas, calling the treatment inhumane.
 
Despite repeated appeals, authorities have ignored their pleas for protection. The transgenders also said that police officials were enabling community leaders and clerics to push trans people out. Since 2015, 158 transgender individuals have been killed in the province without justice, according to activists.
