High Commissioner of India to Sri Lanka Santosh Jha has said that it is a proud moment for the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre in Colombo, whose efforts to translate Dr Bhupen Hazarika’s song into Sri Lanka’s official languages were appreciated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during Mann Ki Baat. Prime Minister Modi paid homage to Dr Bhupen Hazarika and played the Sinhala and Tamil renditions of the famous song Manuhe Manuhar Babe, which is often referred to as the Anthem of Humanity. Speaking exclusively to Akashvani, Mr Jha said the songs were released on the occasion of the Birth Centenary celebrations of Dr Hazarika and were translated and performed by Sri Lankan artists.
