Congress leader Rahul Gandhi alleged that under the guise of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), attempts are being made to steal votes in the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections by deleting names of existing voters and adding new ones.
Addressing a public meeting today at Suara Hawai Adda Maidan in Sasaram in Bihar ahead of the launch of the Voter Rights Rally, Mr. Gandhi said that the truth about the SIR will be exposed before the entire country. He alleged that the role of the Election Commission is under suspicion.
He further said that for the poor and weaker sections, the right to vote is their foremost right, and it will not be allowed to be stolen. Mr. Gandhi added that his party had earlier exposed vote manipulation in Maharashtra and Karnataka.
The rally was also addressed by Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, RJD leader Tejashwi Prasad Yadav, CPI(ML) leader Dipankar Bhattacharya, and several other senior leaders of the INDIA alliance.
