Tripura CM Dr. Manik Saha urged citizens and clubs to actively participate in voluntary blood donation to ensure no shortage in the state’s blood banks. Speaking at Shibnagar Modern Club’s 73rd Foundation Day, he highlighted anti-drug efforts, government support for social initiatives, and the importance of community unity.

Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Sunday emphasised that if people from all sections of society come forward to voluntarily donate blood, Tripura will never face a shortage in its blood banks. Speaking at the inauguration of a blood donation camp organised by Shibnagar Modern Club and Amra Tarun Dal Club to mark their 73rd Foundation Day, Dr. Saha highlighted the crucial role that clubs play in the development of local areas, in promoting peace and harmony, and in raising awareness on various social issues.

The Chief Minister described blood donation as one of the noblest acts of service, urging every club and social organisation to adopt it as a mission. He stressed the need to create a healthy competitive environment where different organisations regularly host blood donation drives, ensuring that hospitals and blood banks always have adequate reserves to meet medical needs.

Dr. Saha said that while the government is taking steps to maintain sufficient blood stock in the state’s blood banks, public participation remains essential to making the initiative sustainable. He encouraged active involvement from every segment of society to bridge any gap in medical resources.

Combating Drug Abuse and Social Awareness

The Chief Minister also addressed the growing concerns over drug abuse and its connection to the spread of HIV. He informed that the government is making all-out efforts to eradicate both drug consumption and trafficking in Tripura. However, he noted that the mission will only be fully successful if clubs and social organisations take active roles in anti-drug campaigns, spreading awareness within families and communities.

Dr. Saha reiterated the government’s zero-tolerance policy towards drugs and stressed the importance of fostering patriotism among the people. Under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, initiatives such as Har Ghar Tiranga and 75 Simanta Veer Ka Naam are being implemented to instill national pride and unity.

He called for collective efforts from the government, clubs, organisations, and citizens to build a healthy, progressive society. According to him, events like the one held on Sunday not only promote health and service but also strengthen bonds among people in local communities.

Government Support for Clubs’ Social Work

Lok Sabha MP Rajib Bhattacharjee, who attended as the chief guest, said that the government will continue to stand by clubs and social organisations, providing assistance for their community-based initiatives. He praised the growing trend of clubs engaging in positive social work, calling it a healthy sign for society.

Bhattacharjee further stressed the importance of standing united against drug abuse, adding that it requires joint efforts by the government and the people. Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor and MLA Deepak Majumdar, AMC East Zone Chairman Sukhamoy Saha, Shibnagar Modern Club & Amra Tarun Dal’s Vice President Pradip Ghosh, and Joint Vice President Shaibal Roy were also present at the event.

During the blood donation camp, the Chief Minister and other dignitaries interacted with donors, inquiring about their well-being and expressing appreciation for their contribution. A total of 20 units of blood were collected during the camp.

Celebrating the 73rd Foundation Day

The clubs’ 73rd Foundation Day celebrations were marked not only by the blood donation camp but also by various cultural and sports activities. These included a sit-and-draw competition, swimming contest, chess tournament, dance competition, recitation, and music performances. The events attracted enthusiastic participation, creating an atmosphere of community bonding and cultural exchange.
