Arunachal Governor Lt. Gen. K.T. Parnaik urges the Indian Army to study ‘Operation Sindoor’ from operational, strategic, and humanitarian angles, while praising their border efforts under ‘Sadbhavana’. He also pays tribute to Kargil heroes, reinforcing patriotism, vigilance, and civil-military cooperation in Arunachal Pradesh.
In a interaction with Indian Army officers at the Dinjan Military Station on Friday, Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt. General (Retd.) K.T. Parnaik called for a comprehensive study of ‘Operation Sindoor’ from multiple perspectives. The Governor, a seasoned military veteran, stressed that understanding this critical military operation through operational, strategic, and humanitarian lenses would not only sharpen the Army’s professional competence but also equip officers with valuable lessons for future military and civil engagements.
Addressing the officers, Governor Parnaik emphasized that a holistic evaluation of ‘Operation Sindoor’ is essential in today’s dynamic geopolitical landscape. He said such an exercise would contribute immensely to preparing Indian Army personnel for future challenges along the borders and enhance their understanding of multi-domain warfare and military-civil synergy in sensitive regions like Arunachal Pradesh.
The Governor elaborated on how ‘Operation Sindoor’ holds immense strategic relevance, not just for the Indian military but also for India’s broader national security apparatus. “In-depth analysis of operations like these must go beyond the battlefield outcomes and delve into areas like civil-military coordination, humanitarian outreach, and the strategic narrative we build,” he said.
Drawing on his vast experience in the armed forces, Governor Parnaik also highlighted the growing importance of perception management and advanced technologies in modern warfare. He urged Army personnel to remain updated on cutting-edge developments in defence tech and to be acutely aware of adversarial intent and psychological operations that often accompany border conflicts.
He reiterated the importance of operational preparedness and proactive defence postures in guarding Arunachal Pradesh’s sensitive and strategically vital borders. “We cannot afford to be reactive. Vigilance and readiness must become our default mode, especially given the evolving nature of threats in our neighborhood,” he warned.
A strong proponent of integrated development and security, Governor Parnaik praised the Indian Army’s role in supporting local communities in Arunachal Pradesh. He specifically lauded the initiatives taken under ‘Operation Sadbhavana’, particularly in remote border villages where Army units have been instrumental in facilitating education and healthcare services.
“Your outreach efforts are building a deep bond of trust between the Army and the people. This not only strengthens internal stability but also enhances the strategic resilience of our border regions,” the Governor said. He encouraged the officers to expand people-centric programmes under Sadbhavana, calling such initiatives a vital part of national service and diplomacy in action.
Earlier, the Governor was received by Major General V.S. Deshpande, General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 2 Mountain Division, who provided a detailed briefing on the division’s operational duties and its extensive engagement with local communities through Sadbhavana projects. The GOC emphasized that the Army’s focus in Arunachal Pradesh goes beyond traditional security, aiming to build lasting partnerships with local populations and ensure sustainable development in frontier areas.
The Governor’s visit coincided with Kargil Vijay Diwas, a solemn occasion commemorating India’s triumph during the 1999 Kargil War. In his tribute, Lt. Gen. Parnaik paid homage to the martyrs who laid down their lives in the line of duty. He noted that the day is more than a celebration of military victory; it is a tribute to extraordinary bravery, nationalism, and the enduring spirit of sacrifice.
“Kargil Vijay Diwas is a powerful reminder that patriotism is not a seasonal sentiment but a way of life. Against all odds, in the most hostile terrains, our soldiers protected the nation’s honour. Their legacy continues to ignite the flame of unity, pride, and national service in every Indian,” the Governor stated.
