Mizoram CM Lalduhoma launches ‘Mizo DiasporaHub’ to connect with Mizo communities worldwide. Developed by the Chief Minister’s Office and LushAITech, the portal enhances global engagement, supports welfare associations, and provides tools like SOS alerts and auto-translation. Registration now open for diaspora groups via app and web.

In a move aimed at strengthening ties with Mizo communities across the globe, Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma on Monday launched the “Mizo DiasporaHub” — a digital platform designed to connect the Mizo diaspora worldwide. The initiative, developed by the newly formed Mizo Diaspora Cell under the Chief Minister’s Office in collaboration with local tech firm LushAITech, marks a significant step toward inclusive governance and global outreach.

Unveiling the platform at an official event, Chief Minister Lalduhoma emphasized the importance of sustained engagement with Mizo individuals and welfare groups residing outside the state and abroad. “Our government is committed to innovation, people-first governance, and digital empowerment. The launch of the Mizo DiasporaHub is a testament to that vision,” he said.

The Mizo DiasporaHub is designed to function as a centralized platform to facilitate communication and coordination between Mizo welfare associations around the world. It also provides critical tools to support diaspora communities in times of need, such as SOS alerts, automatic translation for cross-border communication, and easy access to contact information of local association leaders.

Promoting Responsible Migration and Welfare

The portal, now live on Google Play Store, Apple App Store, and the web, will initially be open for registration by Mizo welfare associations. Individual registration will be available shortly, allowing users to identify gathering locations, access legal and consular information, and connect with fellow Mizos globally.

Speaking at the event, Lalduhoma — a former IPS officer turned politician — reiterated the government’s commitment to supporting Mizo individuals facing difficulties abroad. “Many of our brothers and sisters face hardship when migrating through irregular channels. We must promote responsible migration and support those in distress,” he stated.

The Chief Minister urged all global Mizo associations and community groups to register and utilize the platform to improve connectivity and collaboration. He extended gratitude to LushAITech for developing the platform efficiently and cost-effectively, without significant burden on the state’s finances.

Supporting the Global Mizo Community

Vanlaldina Fanai, Chairman of the Mizo Diaspora Cell, shared the background and vision behind the portal. Formed recently on June 11, 2024, the Cell was tasked with addressing challenges faced by Mizos living outside Mizoram, especially those vulnerable to exploitation or legal trouble due to irregular migration.

“The Mizo DiasporaHub will not only serve as an information-sharing and coordination platform but also as a support system,” Fanai said. He acknowledged the vital support of the Ministry of External Affairs, the Home Department, SP (CID and Crime Branch), and the Law and Judicial Department in realizing the platform’s goals.

Fanai also called for closer ties between the diaspora and their homeland. “Our aim is to build a strong bridge between Mizoram and Mizos abroad. The stronger the bond, the better we can help each other in times of need,” he said.

Advanced Digital Features

Officials highlighted that the platform comes equipped with a range of digital features. Users can search for and locate Mizo welfare associations, access contact details of office bearers, and receive emergency assistance through built-in SOS services. AI-enabled tools such as automatic translation will facilitate seamless communication across linguistic barriers.

This portal is part of Mizoram’s broader initiative to embrace digital governance and reach out to citizens beyond geographical limitations. The Chief Minister’s Office confirmed that more such tech-driven platforms are in the pipeline to ensure effective and inclusive service delivery.

Future Scope

As the registration process begins, the government aims to expand the platform’s scope to include job information, legal aid, health services, and cultural event coordination for the Mizo diaspora.

With Mizoram taking the lead in building such a robust and inclusive diaspora engagement platform, other northeastern states and small regions with significant populations living abroad may follow suit.

The launch of the Mizo DiasporaHub signals a new era in diaspora relations, where technology bridges physical distance, and governance becomes truly global.
