In Football, the Indian U-20 women’s team played a 1-1 draw against Uzbekistan in an international friendly match at Do’stlik Stadium, Tashkent, last night.
Uzbekistan took the lead in the 38th minute through Mehribon Egamberdieva. India equalised in the 79th minute with a goal from Sulanjana Raul.
India and Uzbekistan are set to meet again tomorrow as part of their ongoing preparations for the AFC U-20 Women’s Asian Cup Qualifiers scheduled for next month. In the qualifiers, India will face Indonesia on August 6, Turkmenistan on August 8, and hosts Myanmar on August 10 in Yangon.
Uzbekistan, led by Vladimir Panov, will host Group G and play against Bahrain, Northern Mariana Islands, and Jordan.
The group winners and the three best second-place teams from eight groups will qualify for the final tournament in Thailand next year.
