Union Minister Piyush Goyal Hails UNESCO Recognition of 12 Shivaji Forts as Symbol of National Pride

Union Minister Piyush Goyal congratulated the people of Maharashtra on the inclusion of 12 historic forts of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in the UNESCO World Heritage List. Speaking at an event held at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Udyan at Dadar in Mumbai to mark the occasion, he said that these forts are a symbol of global recognition and pride.
 
 
He emphasised that Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj belongs to the entire nation, having played a unifying role across India through his visionary leadership. He also noted that the inclusion of these 12 forts in the UNESCO World Heritage Sites list further elevates their historical and cultural significance. The event was also attended by Maharashtra’s Information Technology and Cultural Affairs Minister Ashish Shelar, Skill Development Minister Mangal Prabhat Lodha, and several other dignitaries.
