Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Thursday inaugurated an all-weather road and named it after former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee at West Anandanagar.

The road was constructed by using paver blocks.  

The Chief Minister in his speech stated that the state government had laid special emphasis on infrastructure development, especially road as only when road communications develop economic growth then follows. He also informed the gathering that

As many as six national highways were being constructed the state while the central government already gave in-principle approval for four more national highways.

 In another programme after inaugurating a Farmer Knowledge Centre at Sekerkote under Dukli block the Chief Minister pointed out that socio-economic growth of the farmers happened to be one of the top priorities of the state government.

The Knowledge Centre has facilities to provide training to 30 farmers through audio-visual format. Dr. Saha said, the state government has set a target to build a total 83 Farmer Knowledge Centre, one in each agriculture sector office across the state. The farmers would be able to get information related to crops production and different issues. After the present government took over, the farmers’ income has almost doubled. That will increase in the future. He said, the farmers are now being given due respect. 

He expressed hope that the new facility would largely benefit the local farmers.

The welcome speech was delivered by Secretary of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare department Apurba Roy.

Sabhadhipati of West Tripura Zilla Parishad Antara Sarkar Deb and vice-chairman of Dukli Panchayat Samiti Dulal Sarkar also spoke in the programme. The vote of thanks was delivered by Director of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare department- Saradindu Das.

The Chief Minister also took part in distributing Agri equipment among the local farmers after the inaugural ceremony.
