The State-Level Rashtriya Ekta Diwas was observed throughout the country today through different programs on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
The main programme of State-Level Rashtriya Ekta Diwas was organized at Swami Vivekananda Maidan. The state-level event was inaugurated by Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha in the morning. After inaugurating, he said, today is a prideful day on preserving unity of the country. He said, this day is being observed as Rashtriya Ekta Diwas every year on the occasion of the birth anniversary of former Vice Prime Minister Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel since Prime Minister Narendra Modi took over. Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel unified about 500 small independent states to establish and strengthen unity in the country.
The Chief Minister called on all concerned to extend their cooperation in building One India Best India, One Tripura Best Tripura. Education Minister Ratan Lal Nath, Youth Affairs & Sport Minister Sushanta Chowdhury, Tribal Welfare Minister Rampada Jamatia, MP Rebati Tripura, Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation Dipak Majumder and Chief Secretary J. K. Sinha were present at the event. Chief Secretary J. K. Sinha said, country’s unity will further strengthen through celebrating this day. Welcome speech was delivered by Secretary of Youth Affairs & Sport department Dr. P. K. Chakraborty.
Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha read out the pledge of Rashtriya Ekta Diwas and later flagged off ‘Run for Unity’ event. The Chief Minister and other dignitaries participated in ‘Run for Unity’. The event started from Swami Vivekananda Maidan and ended at Umakanta Academy.
