Day 2 of the 15th Hockey India Sub-Junior Women’s Nationals 2025 saw Himachal dominate Puducherry 9-0, while Assam edged past Jammu & Kashmir 3-2. Manipur, Tamil Nadu, Uttarakhand, and Chhattisgarh also secured strong wins in an action-packed day of hockey in Ranchi.

The second day of the 15th Hockey India Sub-Junior Women’s National Championship 2025 witnessed an exciting mix of dominant performances and nail-biting finishes at the Marang Gomke Jaipal Singh Astroturf Hockey Stadium. The standout fixture of the day featured Hockey Himachal crushing Le Puducherry Hockey with a clinical 9-0 win, while Assam Hockey edged past Hockey Jammu & Kashmir in a tightly contested 3-2 encounter.

Division A: Himachal’s Ruthless Display

Hockey Himachal put on a scintillating display of teamwork and finishing prowess to decimate Le Puducherry Hockey. The Himachal side looked sharp from the start, as Shanvi Sharma opened the scoring in the 3rd minute. Tanisha doubled the lead in the 5th minute, setting the tone for a one-sided affair.

Captain Navneet Kaur led by example, scoring two goals (32′, 44′) and orchestrating several attacking moves. Sonam delivered a spectacular hat-trick (35′, 37′, 45′), showing her calmness and skill in front of goal. Shanvi added another goal in the 33rd minute, while Kashish Chauhan sealed the game with a late strike in the 49th minute.

Assam Overcomes Jammu & Kashmir in Tight Contest

In contrast, the match between Assam Hockey and Hockey Jammu & Kashmir kept fans on the edge of their seats. Assam took the lead through Jyoshna Ekka in the 27th minute, and a quick goal from captain Roshni Burh in the 38th minute gave Assam a 2-0 cushion. Jyoshna struck again in the 39th minute.

However, Hockey J&K fought back valiantly. Akshra Dutta scored two back-to-back goals (40′, 53′), putting Assam under pressure in the final moments. Despite the late surge from J&K, Assam managed to hold on to their 3-2 lead and bagged three crucial points.

Division B: Dominant Wins and Close Calls

The Division ‘B’ matches were just as engaging. Hockey Uttarakhand blanked Hockey Karnataka 2-0, thanks to early goals by Mukta (11′) and Gungun Katariya (23′). They maintained their defensive shape well to deny Karnataka any real opportunity to mount a comeback.

Manipur Hockey delivered one of the most dominant performances of the day, thrashing Kerala Hockey 6-0. Manipur’s Jerina Chongtham netted two goals early in the first quarter (13′, 14′), setting the stage for a relentless attacking display. Meikam Surviya Devi (41′), Chanu Ngairangbam Langlen (47′), and Huidrom Bidyaluxmi Devi (53′) added further goals to seal a convincing win.

In a tightly contested clash, Hockey Unit of Tamil Nadu edged past Hockey Gujarat 4-3. Tamil Nadu’s captain Jovina Defny MJ was the standout performer, scoring twice (28′, 30′) in quick succession. Early goals from MJ Jonishadefny (5′) and S Kowsica (40′) proved crucial. Gujarat responded with goals from Krisha Gheewala (10′), Jadeja Bhavnaba (41′), and Maida Shitalben (51′), but fell just short.

Division C: Telangana and Goa Settle for a Draw

In Division ‘C’, Telangana Hockey and Goans Hockey played out a goalless draw in a match marked by strong defensive setups from both sides.

Chhattisgarh Finish with a Flourish

In the final match of the day, Chhattisgarh Hockey dominated Hockey Bengal 5-0. Early strikes from Praja Twinkal (5′) and Kaur Manpreet (8′) set the foundation for the win. The highlight of the match was a spectacular hat-trick by Shyamlee Ray (30′, 40′, 42′) that left Bengal’s defense in disarray.
