Bru Sangrama Matha , an organization of the Reang tribesmen of the state demanded recognition of Kau-bru , their mother tongue as the Official language of Tripura.
Apart from that they also demanded restoration of Shiva Linga in Jampui hills as well as declaration of holiday on the puja days ( Full moon day of the month of Bhadra) of their presiding deity Goddess Sangrama. One more demand that the Reangs raised was proper and clear demarcation of Tripura-Mizoram border in Jampui Hills region.
A rally of about 1000 Reang tribesmen held a rally to press for their demands at Birchandra Manu in South Tripura district recently.
“Kau Bru is our mother tongue and the Government should recognize the Kau Bru. A recognition will help to preserve and enrich the language”, said Reang leaders like Kshanaram Reang, vice president Birendra Reang, Anil Reang et al.
The said, if their demands were not met they would go for bigger agitation in future.
