Scottish actor Robbie Coltrane, who is best known for playing the character of Rubeus Hagrid in the iconic Harry Potter movies, has died.

He was 72.

The details on the cause of his death was not immediately known.

Harry Potter writer J K Rowling reacted to his death and posted on Twitter: Ill never know anyone remotely like Robbie again. He was an incredible talent, a complete one off, and I was beyond fortunate to know him, work with him and laugh my head off with him.
