BJP leader Tarun Chugh, during a tribute in Dublin for the Kanishka bombing victims, highlighted PM Modi’s zero-tolerance policy on terror, India’s global leadership on anti-terrorism, and the role of the diaspora in shaping Viksit Bharat 2047. He emphasized India’s economic rise and global image transformation.
BJP national general secretary Tarun Chugh on Tuesday paid tribute to the victims of the 1985 Kanishka bombing, marking the 40th anniversary of the deadliest terror attack in aviation history. Addressing the Indian diaspora at the Embassy of India in Dublin, Chugh highlighted India’s unwavering commitment to fighting terrorism and lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s zero-tolerance policy on terror, which he said has shaped the global perception of a “New India.”
Speaking at a solemn commemorative event, Chugh asserted that the Kanishka bombing — which killed all 329 passengers and crew aboard Air India Flight 182 — was not merely an attack on India but an attack on humanity. “We must never forget the innocent lives lost in this heinous act. The global community must unite against such acts of terror to ensure that no innocent life is sacrificed to the evil designs of terror outfits,” he said.
Tarun Chugh underlined that under PM Modi’s leadership, India has emerged as a strong and proactive player on global anti-terrorism platforms. He emphasized that India’s approach to terrorism has transitioned from reactive to preventive, with bold and decisive measures to combat terror financing, infiltration, and cross-border attacks.
India’s Strong Stand Against State-Sponsored Terror
In his address, Chugh drew attention to Operation Sindoor, a recent failed attempt allegedly backed by Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), aimed at destabilising the peace and development achieved under Modi’s administration. “Such nefarious attempts to derail India’s progress will always be defeated by the collective resolve of our people and the determined leadership at the helm,” he said.
He reiterated that India’s growing international stature and its active participation in forums like the G20, the United Nations, and the Quad are proof of the credibility the country commands today. This growing diplomatic and strategic influence, Chugh said, has been largely driven by Modi’s visionary foreign policy.
Empowering the Global Indian Diaspora
The event also witnessed a vibrant interaction with members of the Friends of Overseas BJP Ireland and the wider Indian community in Ireland. Chugh discussed the long-term national vision of ‘Viksit Bharat 2047’, an initiative aimed at transforming India into a developed nation by its 100th year of independence.
He called upon the Indian diaspora to contribute more actively in India’s journey of growth, innovation, and global engagement. “India’s progress is not solely the effort of those residing within its borders. Our vibrant global diaspora plays an equally important role,” Chugh said.
He urged overseas Indians to serve as cultural and economic ambassadors, preserving India’s heritage and promoting its achievements to younger generations abroad. “We must keep the spirit of India alive across the world — in classrooms, in communities, and in conversations,” he stated.
India’s Economic and Global Rise
Chugh also highlighted India’s impressive economic rise, noting that the country has become the fourth-largest economy in the world. Rapid growth in sectors such as manufacturing, services, and exports is a testament to India’s resilient and innovation-driven economy.

He remarked that the Modi government has not only accelerated domestic development but also ensured that Indian citizens are respected globally. “Today, every Indian stands taller because of how the world views India — not just as a land of culture and tradition, but of strength, progress, and leadership,” Chugh said.
In conclusion, Tarun Chugh emphasized that India’s commitment to zero tolerance on terrorism has not only protected the nation but has helped shape a responsible, peaceful, and globally respected New India. He called on all Indians — at home and abroad — to stay united in the fight against terrorism and work towards a developed, secure, and inclusive nation.
