Education Minister Ratan Lal Nath said a considerable number of teachers would soon be appointed in the Education department and they would join the services soon after the Durga Puja. He , however, did not give the exact figure of the teachers to appointed soon.
Addressing a press conference the Education minister also announced that the state government would set up five more Degree Colleges from the current academic year across the state.
“Of the five three Colleges would be set up at government’s initiative and the remaining two would be established in Public-Private-Partnership or PPP model”, Nath said.
Anandanagar Welfare Society of West Bengal and Downtown Trust of Assam would set up the two PPP colleges and MoUs were already signed between the two organizations and the state government. in PPP model.
If everything went as per the plan then the PPP model colleges would come up at Jirania and Kakraban form the current academic year only. Of the two one would be a Law College that would be set up at Jirania and Tripura University already gave recognition for the proposed college.
The proposed Law College would have BA LLB Integrated Programme (5 years), B.Com LLB Integrated Programme (5 years) and LLB Course (3 years), the Education Minister said.
Kakraban would get a new a General Degree College for which the government already issued notification for admission. Besides, another Degree College would come up at Old Agartala.
The Education Minister said, the state government took an initiative for setting up another college at Panisagar with 100 seats while the proposed English medium College would start academic activities with 50 seats at Old DIET College.
