The Indian Embassy at Kathmandu, Nepal, is scheduled to celebrate International Yoga Day in a grand way in Pokhara in collaboration with Pokhara Metro City and Pokhara Tourism Council on 21st June 2025. As a run-up to the main event, a Yoga session will be organised tomorrow at Gauri Shankar Temple located in the midpoint of Nepal in scenic Lamjung District. 
        Population more than 90% have been traditionally practising Yoga and meditation under different names.  Shamanic practices, tantric practices, as well as indigenous faith traditionally use yogic kriya, mudras and dhyaan. With the fast-paced life outcome of modernisation and globalisation, a major chunk of the current generation has slowly forgotten the ancestral learning of Yoga in the Himalayan Nation. Celebration of International Yoga Day over the last decade is an annual gentle reminder to revive Yoga practice for physical, mental and emotional well-being. Embassy of India in Kathmandu and its associated offices in Pokhara, Birgunj, and Dharana have been intensively organising Yoga Sessions across iconic locations in Nepal to draw people’s attention to yogic practices. Before 75 days leading up to International Yoga Day, a Yoga session was organised in partnership with Pashupati Area Development Temple Complex in the iconic Pashupati temple, witnessing an inspiring turnout of yoga enthusiasts.  As a run-up event for the 21st June major celebration this year, Yoga sessions were organised in the UNESCO Heritage site of Patan Durbar Square, Changu Narayan Temple, Swayambhunath Temple and Kathmandu Durbar Square.  Kendriya Vidyalaya in Kathmandu had huge participation of students from various schools from across Kathmandu city which ended with insightful lecture demonstration on Benefit of Satvik aahar, inspiring students to embrace mindful eating rooted in traditional Indian wisdom and holistic wellness.  Yoga sessions were organised in Nepal Army Headquarter,  and ICIMOD, Kathmandu. In the yoga session, scientists, researchers, and many yoga enthusiasts participated in a yoga session, enduring the essence of harmony and holistic well-being. Yoga photo contest was organised a week back to promote awareness about yoga and its benefits,especially its connection with nature.Participants are sharing their photographs depicting various yoga postures at scenic spots significant in nepal. A large number of Nepali people registered themselves on Yoga Sangam Portal for Yoga Mahotsav. Meanwhile, in Nepal, Yoga Day Celebration Main Committee is formed by the Government of Nepal from the three-tier government to observe the Day in a grand way. Representatives from various ministries and Yoga tutors called on Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli at his Baluawatar residence, given the upcoming International Day of Yoga. During the meeting, Prime Minister Oli stressed the need to develop Yoga practice as a lifestyle and implement it in line with the ‘Nirogi Nepal Abhiyan.
