In Punjab, Red and Orange alerts have been issued for today and the coming couple of days due to a heat wave across the state and the Union Territory of Chandigarh. However, a slight relief from the ongoing hot weather conditions is likely from June 15 onwards.

Akashvani Correspondent reports that the Chandigarh-based Indian MeT Department had issued a red alert for yesterday and today. Bathinda, with 46.8 degrees Celsius, was the hottest in the state yesterday, followed by the industrial town of Ludhiana with temperatures above 45 degrees. Fazilka, Faridkot, and Ferozepur recorded temperatures above 44 degrees Celsius, whereas the rest of the places were between 39 to 43 degrees Celsius with warm nights. The City Beautiful, Chandigarh, recorded 41.7 degrees Celsius. The public has been advised to stay hydrated, remain indoors during peak heat hours, and avoid prolonged exposure to the sun. Meanwhile, some relief is expected from June 15 onwards as thunderstorms with gusty winds are expected.
