One of the Aspirational Districts- Dhalai has got several modern healthcare facilities on Thursday even as Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha opened a Trauma Centre, Nutrition Rehabilitation Centre, Paediatric Ward and Covid ICU at Dhalai district hospital in Kulai.

The Chief Minister after inauguration of the facilities dwelt in details about the improvement of the health services in the state hospitals and PHCs etc . The Chief Minister who himself is a renowned maxillofacial surgeon and professor in Tripura Medical college pointed out that due to the relentless efforts of the state government and cooperations from the medical fraternity there were visible improvement in the sector—with not only referral cases coming down drastically in the last few years but also some extremely critical surgeries were conducted in the state hospital GBP Hospital by the doctors from the state only.

“ We are soon going to set up Super-speciality block in the hospital”, he said.

One of the most important indicator of improvement of health care sector is the reduction of infant mortality rate in the state. Besides now 93 percent deliveries are done in the healthcare facilities.

Apart from that not only all the PHCs would be upgraded to Health and Wellness Centres to strengthen the rural healthcare services but also a new Medical College would be set up at Ambassa in Dhalai district. The Chief Minister said land for the proposed facility had already been identified and the works would soon start.

The Chief Minister said, there was also success in Ayushman Bharat- Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana as already a total of 12,76,416 e-cards had already been issued under the scheme. The scheme was launched in the state in 2018 with a target to cover 14 lakh beneficiaries.

“Under the scheme, 12,76,416 e-cards have so far been issued in the state and 1.38 lakh beneficiaries have received the benefit,” Dr. Saha said at a programme in Dhalai district.

MLA Parimal Debbarma, secretary of Health and Family Welfare department Drbashis Basu, director Dr. Subhashis Debbarma, District Magistrate, Dhalai- Govekar Mayur Ratilal, SP Dhalai Ramesh Yadav and others were present in the programme.
