Mela Kheer Bhawani marks inter-community harmony –

The annual Mela Kheer Bhawani was celebrated with great traditional fervor and gaiety at the sacred shrine of Mata Ragnya Devi at Tulmulla in Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district. The Ganderbal is gateway to famous tourist spot Sonamarg along the Srinagar Kargil highway.
        The festival is a symbol of communal harmony and brotherhood, reflecting the rich pluralistic ethos that has defined Jammu and Kashmir for centuries.
        The Mela reinforces the spirit of unity and the cultural heritage that binds the people of Jammu and Kashmir together. Mela Kheer Bhawani has always stood as an epitome of inter-community harmony.
        Elaborate security measures and administrative arrangements had been put in place at Tulmulla Ganderbal. The Mela was celebrated with religious joyfulness and enthusiasm, in North Kashmir’s Tikker Kupwara district and South Kashmir’s Logri Pora Aishmuqam Anantnag district and Manzgam and Devsar in Kulgam district.
        A large number of devotees from J&K and across the country participated in the religious festivities, which hold deep spiritual significance for the Kashmiri Pandit community. Lt Governor Manoj Sinha, NC President Dr Farooq Abdullah and PDP President Mehbooba Mufti visited Mata Kheer Bhawani temple at Tulmulla Ganderbal. They welcomed the devotees and exchanged pleasantries with them. There was an atmosphere of joy and warmth whileas emotional scenes were witnessed with muslims and Pandits shaking hands and hugging each other with tears in eyes. The Mela Kheer Bhawani is a celebration of communal harmony & brotherhood between muslims and Kashmiri Pandit communities.
