Ending a long wait Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Wednesday inaugurated a Blood Centre at Teliamura sub-divisional hospital in Khowai district. The new blood centre built at the cost of Rs. 26 lakh and having capacity of storing 50 units of blood would benefit around 1.70 lakh people of the sub-division.

Dr. Saha also visited various wards of the Teliamura sub-divisional hospital and inquired about various services.

He also interacted with the local health staff and officials to know about the steps needed to be taken for infrastructural development of the hospital.

The Chief Minister was accompanied by local MLA and chief whip of assembly- Kalyani Roy, MLA Dr. Atul Debbarma and others.

Meanwhile, as part of his visit to Khowai district, the Chief Minister also inaugurated the Community Health Centre and quarter complex at Kalyanpur.

In another programme Dr. Saha inaugurated the new building of Kalyanpur Hospital on Wednesday.

Chief Whip of Tripura Legislative Assembly Kalyani Roy, Local MLA Pinaki Das Chowdhur, Health Director Radha Debbarma, Secretary of Health and Family Welfare Department Debashish Basu, Chairman of Khowai Zilla Parishad Jaydev Debbarma, Vice President Hari Shankar Pal and others remained present.

The Chief Minister addressed a gathering at the Sonar Tari Mukta Mancha before inaugurating the hospital’s new building. Along with the hospital building, the doctor’s quarters were also inaugurated on Wednesday.

The Chief Minister in his speech said that the government was giving utmost importance to the quality improvement of hospitals. He said, there are two medical colleges in the state. Talks are going on to establish a dental college.

There are currently a total of 1290 doctors in the state, more doctors will be appointed as soon as possible said Dr Saha.

Chief Minister felicitated Jagdish Bhattacharya, the elder son of CHC’s land donor Yogesh Bhattacharya during the tenure of former Chief Minister Sachindra Lal Singha.

Kalyanpur MLA Pinaki Das Chowdhury delivered the welcome address on the occasion. He said there was not even a guest house in Kalyanpur during the long Left rule. Kalyanpur Block Chairman Somen Gope presided over Wednesday’s event. This community health center will start its journey with a total of five doctors.

The new hospital building will have six OPDs besides an isolation ward. There will be separate male and female wards with X-ray, lab room.
