Ed Sheeran teases his new single Sapphire, featuring Shah Rukh Khan and Arijit Singh. From singing in Hindi to jamming with Indian artists, the teaser showcases a unique Indo-Western collaboration. The track, part of his album Play, drops June 5, 2025.
Global pop sensation Ed Sheeran has set social media abuzz with a teaser of his upcoming single ‘Sapphire’, shared on his official Instagram account on Monday. The teaser offers a delightful glimpse into the singer’s musical journey through India, accompanied by none other than Bollywood megastar Shah Rukh Khan and renowned singer Arijit Singh.
In the behind-the-scenes video that’s now going viral, Ed Sheeran is seen blending seamlessly with Indian culture and entertainment. The short clip shows Shah Rukh Khan humming a few lines from ‘Sapphire’, while Sheeran enjoys a quiet coffee moment with Arijit Singh on a barge. Fans are thrilled to see the English artist exploring India so vividly — from trying out traditional instruments, dancing with college students, to even getting a tattoo in Punjabi script. Perhaps the most captivating moment is Sheeran singing in Hindi, showcasing a cross-cultural blend that has fans eagerly awaiting the full release.
Sapphire will be the third single from Sheeran’s forthcoming album Play, following the success of Old Phone and Azizam. The song is scheduled to release globally on June 5, 2025, and is already being hailed as a major cultural crossover.
This isn’t Sheeran’s first brush with Shah Rukh Khan. In 2024, the singer visited SRK’s residence, Mannat, in Mumbai, and the two shared warm moments that fans couldn’t get enough of. A joint Instagram post from that visit went viral, where both Sheeran and Khan struck SRK’s iconic pose and danced to Deewangi Deewangi from Om Shanti Om. The caption, “This is the Shape Of Us spreading love,” cleverly referenced Sheeran’s hit Shape of You while celebrating the Indo-Western friendship.

With Sapphire, Ed Sheeran is not just releasing a song — he’s unveiling a heartfelt homage to Indian music and culture. Featuring SRK and Arijit Singh, the track promises to be an unforgettable blend of Western pop and Indian soul, set against a backdrop of cinematic charm and musical unity.
