Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has assured that the upcoming Nashik-Trimbakeshwar Kumbh Mela will be a grand, divine, and unforgettable event that will captivate the world. Speaking during a review meeting at the District Collector’s Office, he emphasized that the state government is making all efforts to ensure that the Mela is held in a safe, clean, and spiritually uplifting environment.
Mr. Fadnavis also announced a 681 crore rupees development plan for Chaundi, the birthplace of Punyashlok Ahilyabai Holkar. Restoration of traditional ghats and improvement of facilities at Nashik and Trimbakeshwar are part of the state’s broader commitment.
The CM highlighted that the primary aim is to keep the Godavari River clean and flowing, even after the Mela. Sewage treatment projects have been initiated to ensure no polluted water enters the river. Mr. Fadnavis also stated that the Akharas and saints will be actively involved in planning, as their experience is invaluable.
The meeting was attended by Water Resources Minister Girish Mahajan, School Education Minister Dadaji Bhuse, Food and Drug Administration Minister Narhari Zirwal, MLAs, senior officials, police commissioners, and representatives of various Akharas (spiritual sects).
