The Northeast Investment Summit will feature high-level ministerial sessions, Business-to-Government (B2G) engagements, Business-to-Business (B2B) meetings, startup showcases, and exhibitions highlighting policy initiatives and investment promotion efforts by both State Governments and Central ministries, according to an official release.

The summit is expected to draw over 2,000 participants including chief ministers from northeastern states, Union ministers, senior bureaucrats, foreign diplomats, policy-makers, industry leaders, and investors. Discussions will center around more than nine priority sectors, including agriculture, food processing, textiles, tourism, entertainment, education, healthcare, IT, and energy.

Union Minister for Development of the North Eastern Region (DoNER), Jyotiraditya Scindia, emphasized the region’s immense potential, stating, “The greatest potential for India’s future lies in the Northeast. This summit will spotlight our vibrant ‘Ashta Lakshmi’—the eight northeastern states—at the core of India’s transformative growth.”

“Northeast’s cultural tapestry along with the reservoir of natural resources and the strategic geographical positioning of the region have translated it into the most powerful gateway to Southeast Asia,” Scindia said.

Scindia reiterated the Prime Minister’s vision to position the Northeast as a driving force in India’s journey towards becoming a developed nation (‘Viksit Bharat’) by 2047. He highlighted the region’s rich cultural heritage, natural resources, and strategic location as a powerful gateway to Southeast Asia.

He noted that a decade of dedicated investment in infrastructure, healthcare, and education has laid the foundation for the Northeast’s emergence as an economic powerhouse—not only for India but globally.

The summit will also underscore the region’s geo-strategic advantage, skilled workforce, and access to international markets, especially in neighboring countries. It aims to serve as a platform for forming strategic alliances, identifying new investment opportunities, and launching greenfield projects.

The minister also said that last 10 years’ committed investment, the prime minister’s resolve on infrastructure, healthcare and education have set the platform for the rise of the Northeast into an economic power, not just for India, but for the world.

The Northeast’s geo-strategic advantage, abundant natural resources, skilled workforce and access to captive markets in the neighbouring countries will also be showcased at the summit.

The region is an emerging frontier for businesses and the summit will offer an ideal platform for forging alliances, partnerships and acquiring a clear vision of the opportunities available for expanding businesses, making new investments, setting up green field manufacturing projects and associated activities, the DoNER ministry said.
