Jamie Vardy will leave Leicester City after 13 unforgettable seasons, having scored 198 goals and led the Foxes to a historic Premier League title. The legendary striker confirms he’s not retiring and plans to continue his football journey beyond the 2024-25 season.

Jamie Vardy, one of the most iconic figures in Leicester City’s history, has announced he will leave the club at the end of the 2024-25 season. The 38-year-old striker has spent 13 remarkable seasons with the Foxes, becoming their all-time leading goal scorer and the symbol of their golden era.

Since joining the club in 2012 from Fleetwood Town, Vardy has made 495 appearances and scored an incredible 198 goals. His most memorable contribution came in the 2015-16 season, when his relentless goal-scoring played a pivotal role in Leicester’s fairytale Premier League title win — one of the greatest underdog stories in sports history.

Beyond the league title, Vardy helped Leicester lift the FA Cup, Community Shield, and two Championship titles, further solidifying his legendary status. His contributions have not only been on the pitch, but also in how he connected with fans and represented the spirit of the club.

In a heartfelt farewell video shared on social media, Vardy expressed how difficult the decision has been. “Leicester City has been my second home and my extended family,” he said. “The club, the city, and the people mean so much to me and my family. It’s a place that has shaped the lives of our kids.”

The timing of Vardy’s departure is bittersweet. Leicester have already been relegated and currently sit 19th in the Premier League with just 18 points under manager Ruud van Nistelrooy. Despite the struggles this season, Vardy is determined to finish strong. His final appearance for the club is set for May 18 against Ipswich Town.

“This isn’t retirement,” Vardy clarified. “I want to keep playing and doing what I enjoy most: scoring goals. Hopefully, there are a few more for Leicester before the end, and many more in the future. I might be 38, but I still have the desire and ambition to achieve more.”

Reflecting on Vardy’s legacy, Leicester City Chairman Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha said, “Jamie is unique. He is a special player and an even more special person. He holds a place in the hearts of everyone connected to Leicester City.”

As Leicester prepares to bid farewell to one of its greatest-ever players, fans and the football world alike will celebrate the unforgettable journey of Jamie Vardy — a non-league star who became a Premier League legend.
